H.A. Anil Kumar heads the dept of Art History as Associate Professor, at College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangaore. He has been writing about visuals, creating visuals for writings, makes Graphic Novels, has written the script and dialogues for “Harivu” feature film (in Kannada) that won the National Award for the best Kannada film of 2015. He is a recipient of Unesco-Aschberg Scholarship (HIAP, Helsinki, Finland, 2004), British Council Trust of India (Charles Wallace fellowship to study M.A in “Curating Contemporary Arts” at the Royal College of Arts, London, U.K (2004-5), “Committed Teacher” award from the Collage School of Arts (New Delhi, 2013). He is a co-ordinating editor for “Art and Deal” magazine (New Delhi, Edited by Siddharth Tagore).
He has been writing in English and Kannada since 1992 for both Academic and popular publications. He has translated John Berger’s “Ways of Seeing” into Kannada as “Noduva Bage” (Kadalu Publication, Bengaluru, 2010).

Anil Kumar central theme of visual investigation is to see how visuals and words, both written and spoken, have mutual exchange values and has been creating Graphic Novels towards this.

He studied Painting at College of Fine Arts (Chitrakala Parishath, Bengaluru, 1985-90), Art History at Kala Bhavana Santiniketan, (Viswa Bharathi University, West Bengal, 1990-92) and Curating Contemporary Arts at Royal College of Arts (London, U.K, 2004-5). //
